MINUTES OF PAST MEETINGS

OCTOBER 12, 2005 PORT EVACUATION WORKSHOP WHITE PAPER

The Los Angeles Fire Department is preparing to offer a new CERT Training Course (time not yet detertmined). This is a single 3 and 1/2 hour session that covers disaster preparedness and mitigation as well as medical and evacutation training. MISSION STATEMENT:

The Committee on Port Safety & Security (C.O.P.S.S) has unified four Harbor area Neighborhood Councils and concerned community organizations into a joint committee with the single mission of ensuring the safety of those who live and work in or near the Port of Los Angeles.

The Committee’s goals are:

· To research what has been done, what is being done, and what needs to be done to secure the Port and safeguard the community
· To assist in the dissemination of this information to Harbor Area Stakeholders
· To promote accountability for safety and security among Port Management, City, County, State and Federal governmental bodies
· To create a sense of urgency by all concerned that this issue is a high priority to all Harbor Area Stakeholders
